Due to the complexity of our customer’s business, Untangle’s approach involved significant landscape, competitive, and strategic analysis to evaluate the optimal TEFCA strategy. Our approach involved aligning on our customer’s strategic vision for each of its core businesses, involving expanded data-related products and expansion of its market-share leading EHR business.

Untangle Health™ evaluated the initial 7 proposed QHINs (in addition to other “rumored” potential QHINs) and curated a short-list of potential vendor and onramp partners.

Instead of a wholesale approach for our customers’ entire EHR org, we recommended a staggered approach, focusing on the customer cohort primarily asking for data access via the TEFCA network.

This segmenting of the customer’s base allowed:
-further analysis of the initially “applying” QHINs
-the decision to not pursue QHIN status directly.
-the customer to wait and buy time with key business areas not asking for TEFCA network access.


In addition, the customer renewed with Untangle Health™ for deep diligence and a final recommendation from the short list.
